Master Jason Mayoh 5th Dan

Chief Instructor

I started Taekwondo in 1988 at the age of 11 as I was low in confidence and used to get bullied at school, after my 1st class I was instantly hooked and it was apparent I had found a natural talent for this sport.

At the age of 16 I started training with the Great Britain team under the National coach Mark Richardson and was soon fighting all over the country and soon started the fly and fight overseas. My level of ability became very high and I took part in the Olympic team trials but was unlucky not to progress. My most memorable achievement was being chosen to fight in the World Taekwondo Championships in the Philippines in 1995 where I was beaten by the world bronze medalist from Mexico.

I then decided I would love to start teaching my own club so after gaining my black belt in 1996 I eventually took over my original club as the main coach and started Manchester Tigers. Since then I have continued to work hard building a successful club and helped many student gain their black belts and also 2 students be chosen for the Junior GB National Team for the European Championships. In 2006 I was chosen again to be part of the Great Britain team at the European Team Championships in Sweden and I have also travelled to Korea for a 10 Day training and sight seeing tour.

In the later years after taking part in 8 British Championships I finally won Gold in 2012, 2013, 2017, and 2023. 2 more memorable moments were being part of a Guinness World record attempt teaching part of the 800 KPMG staff members a routine that was performed in each city at the same time and it was awarded, them performing in front of the Queen and prince Philip during their visit to Manchester for the Golden Jubilee. I am now also a 5th Dan Master after passing this grade in 2018.

All in all over 34 years of Taekwondo and now have over 190 students. Taekwondo changed my life and made be a better person, I love helping changing other peoples lives teaching this amazing sport. Now I'm a daddy I look forward to the day I can teach my boys to hopefully become champions.
